Here is how to make your Coby DVD-224 a Region Free DVD Player:

1. Power Up the unit with NO Disc in the tray.
2. Press the SETUP button on your remote control
3. Press the VOL + button on your remote control
4. Press the VOL - button on your remote control
5. Press the VOL + button on your remote control
6. Press the VOL - button on your remote control
7. The current region number will appear in the upper right hand corner of the television screen.
8. Press the LEFT or RIGHT Arrow buttons until the number 255 appears.
9. Press the SETUP button on your remote control
10. Close the tray
11. NOTE - The 255 in the above sequence represents the Region Code 0 - Region Free. If you want to set to a specific region, just replace the 255 with the region number that you want.

This may work on other Coby models as well.

Update: found a couple more methods for changing region coding on Cobys.

Another method:
1. Open the DVD tray
2. Press STOP button on the remote control
3. Press 70
4. Press MENU
5. Use the numeric keypad to select your region code number (0 – 6).

Yet another method:
1. Open the DVD tray
2. Press STOP button of remote control
3. Press the digit number buttons “2008” of remote control.
4. Press MENU
Region code will appear, select your region code number.

UneeTee WINNING Design! We Ship World WideYou know the annoying “You’ve got mail!” that AOL says when, of course, you’ve (you, not me) got mail?

I was setting up Mail.app on a user’s new laptop one day, when she asked me if it would say “You’ve got mail!” when she gets new mail. Ugh. I told her no, but that I might be able to make it do that. So here is an Applescript that will save to file whatever text you enter, in whatever voice you choose.

It would appear so. Independent Security Evaluators has released a statement (along with a video) stating that the iPhone can be exploited via, wi-fi, e-mail/text message, or malicious web pages resulting in full access of the iPhone’s contents.
