1 September 2007 @ 18:20NBC Counters Apple’s Claims
According to paidContent.org, NBC now claims that Apple’s press release is false and that NBC never suggested the price hike. NBC’s Cory Shields, EVP-Communications, said that NBC wanted “flexibility in wholesale pricing, including the ability to package shows together in ways that could make our content even more attractive for consumers.” Shields also stated that NBC wants Apple to do more about piracy “since it is estimated that the typical iPod contains a significant amount of illegally downloaded material.”
I want to remind everyone that Apple is a hardware company and they provide content that will make their hardware more enticing to consumers. Many consumers already have a disdain for DRM(Digital Rights Management), and if Apple were to limit even more so what consumers could put on their iPods and iPhones, there would surely be a backlash resulting in a loss of a great many customers.
