21 September 2007 @ 16:00Richard Reinhardt of The Ramones Suing Apple

ramones.gifAccording to a Reuters article, a band member of The Ramones is suing Apple, Wal-Mart, and RealNetworks for selling songs which he claims were never authorized for distribution.

Mr. Reinhardt needs to talk to his music label, because they are the ones who distributed the songs. It’s not as if Apple, Wal-Mart, and RealNetworks all bootlegged The Ramones’ music. They can only distribute music that the music labels provide them.

If this is true that there is not authorization to sell the songs in question, sales of these songs should cease immediately, but the $900,000 Reinhardt is seeking in damages ought to be coughed up by his music label, not the distributors.
