5 August 2008 @ 12:43Pioneer to produce 500GB Blu-ray discs

Pioneer has revealed that they plan to produce 20-layer, 500GB Blu-ray discs sometime in 2010-2012. This is 10 times the current storage capacity of Blu-ray discs.

By applying proprietary technology developed for its BD products and by stacking two different thickness of layers alternatively, interlayer crosstalk was reduced, thus further confirming the feasibility of 20-layer optical discs.
