27 August 2008 @ 15:10Red Digital Cinema competes with traditional film
Anyone interested in film or video cameras ought to read the Wired article on Red Digital Cinema. I first heard about Red a year or so ago, and found it quite interesting that this company was trying to turn the film-making industry upside down by offering an incredibly inexpensive alternative to film cameras such as those by Panavision. By inexpensive, I mean that a Red camera can be purchased for less than it costs to rent a Panavision camera.
Former Oakley founder Jim Jannard founded Red Digital Cinema in 2006 with the goal of making the film-maker’s dream camera.
