20 June 2008 @ 7:41AT&T paying Apple $325 for every iPhone sold

iPhone 3GWe all know that the iPhone 3G is cheaper than the original iPhone, because AT&T is subsidizing its price. An Oppenheimer analyst says that subsidy payment is $325 per iPhone. That is a surprisingly large figure, but goes to show how much faith AT&T has in the iPhone bringing new customers to their network.

AT&T is also paying Apple an extra $100 for every iPhone 3G sold in an Apple retail store for a total of $425 per iPhone 3G.
