Blockbuster busted out their answer to Netflix‘s Roku set-top player — the MediaPoint player. Technically speaking, the two players look very similar, with the exception of Blockbuster’s MediaPoint player having a couple USB ports and a card reader slot which are disabled, but includes the usual, composite, component, HDMI, line audio, digital optical audio, and ethernet ports. From a customer’s standpoint, however the plans differ in that Blockbuster is charging $1.99 per rental, while Netflix is charging a monthly fee starting at $9 for streaming video.
Another option for set-top video streaming and rentals is Vudu.
