I’m sure we all know that tapping the following icon on an iPhone will show your current location on Maps.

Did you know that tapping that same icon a second time on an iPhone 3G S will combine your location with your compass heading and orient the map accordingly?

This is especially handy when you are following a route. On the map you will also notice what looks like headlight beams which point toward the top of the phone, and (more than likely) the direction you are heading.
