15 July 2008 @ 10:29Dell to compete with Asus with sub-$300 subnotebook

DigiTimes is reporting that Dell will release an E-series low-cost notebook that will be priced at only US$299, US$100 cheaper than Acer’s Aspire one. If the specs and the price follow through to its release, the Dell E-series will be a strong contender in the subnotebook market.

Specs are said to include an instant-on Linux distro running atop Intel’s 1.6GHz Atom processor, a 1,024 x 600 display, 3x USB, a wee SSD, integrated webcam, WiFi, and more in a 0.82-1.22-inch thick casing weighing about 2.2-pounds.
