HTC is trying to go head-to-head with the iPhone with their HTC Touch 3G, and honestly, they look to be putting forth a good effort. HTC even uses a tagline very similar to Apple’s iPhone: “This isn’t the web compromised for mobile… it’s the web as you always wanted it be on a mobile.”

Nokia announced that they will buy the rest of Symbian for €264 million ($410 million), and they will also make the Symbian code open source. Nokia expects the acquisition to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2008.

ChinaKing has built the world’s first cellphone with a built-in projector capable of projecting a 30-inch 640×480 picture for up to 2 hours. I think I would rather have my proctor separate from my phone. Not to mention that I would rather have a real iPhone than a chunk of electronics with an iPhone-like interface.

Samsung’s new L870 Smartphone will feature Apple’s Safari web browser (or possibly just Apple’s WebKit). This will be the first non-Apple phone to use Apple’s own browser. The L870 is scheduled to arrive in Europe in August of this year.
