Stuart Lowe installed Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.5 on a Gigabyte M912X netbook tablet. For us Mac users out there, this would make a pretty cool little portable. The Gigabyte M912X has a swivel 8.9-inch touchscreen and is powered by the Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor.

Nokia announced that they will buy the rest of Symbian for €264 million ($410 million), and they will also make the Symbian code open source. Nokia expects the acquisition to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2008.

TUAW is reporting that Apple will seed an early beta of Mac OS X 10.6 to developers at the upcoming WWDC. Mac OS 10.6 is said to be simply a polished and perfected version of what we already with Leopard. It will also drop support for the PowerPC architecture and will be completely 64-bit.

Interestingly, Apple has released a 10.4.11 update for Tiger, after the release of 10.5 Leopard. More details here.
In addition to this update for Tiger, Apple released a security update for Panther (10.3).

I am very pleased with Leopard’s Parental Controls. I have already implemented the controls for my own children. The time limits are particularly useful, as it can get tiresome saying, “It’s your bedtime.
