Deldotb managed to install a touchscreen in his Dell Inspiron Mini 9, but in doing so had to sacrifice one of the left-side USB ports. Nice mod!

What?! According to Anne Camden of Dell Corporate Communications, “the Mini doesn’t have the internal antenna infrastructure needed to support mobile broadband”. So much for putting a third-party 3G card in the free WWAN slot in the base of the unit.

Dell’s new netbook, the Inspiron Mini 9, is now on sale. As expected, Dell is offering a model with Ubuntu 8.04 alongside a model with the run-of-the-mill Windows XP Home installation. Pricing starts at a competitive $349.

The folks over at Gizmodo have provided a screenshot of the specs on Dell’s upcoming netbook — Inspiron 910. Still no word on pricing, but the release date is expected to be August 22, 2008. The specs look to be right in line with the offerings by ASUS, Acer, MSI, and others.
